Gold Hill creates award winning wines
using estate grown grapes and has produced wines since the
mid-eighties. Gold Hill competes only in Orange
County, (most comprehensive),
California State, (oldest in US) and Amador County, (US capital of
Barbera and
very competitive reds). Wine producers win awards. Tasting
Rooms are lined with wines and ribbons.
Some are more important than others, though the taste of our customers
is the most important gauge. Medals follow the Olympic color
scheme. Since Gold Hill has been
awarded hundreds of honors, recent competitions are not presented.
For instance, Gold Hill has been awarded the State Golden Bear on two
occasions at the oldest wine competition in the US, the State Fair.
